Predictions 2018
What will be the needle movers for you this year?

First in line, I vote improving gut health will be the real needle mover for a lot of people.
Entwined in that I’d also say individualized nutrition will be next up i.e. nutritional advice that takes into account genetics, environment, stage of life and yep gut health, among other things.
The growth in these areas is partly due to the ever-increasing amount of knowledge as to their importance but possibly more to the ever-decreasing financial barriers as well as the emergence of lounge room friendly technology to make measuring and applying this stuff easy.
As a result, the ability for overall health to take some big leaps forward can now be said to be upon us.
My prediction of how the effect of these trends will play out? I think this next year or two will finally be tipping point of people ceasing to focus on dieting to lose weight and instead they’ll be able to focus on ‘dieting’ (if that’s even the right word) to improve their health and as a result, they’ll not only end up at their optimal weight, they’ll end up full of beans.
While a few basics will remain, like eating more unprocessed foods, gone will be the days of generic, one size fits all ‘diets’ that are supposedly healthy for everyone.
Another big hit in 2018 is bound to be the appreciation on a sciencey level of doing stuff you love. Nurturing the gut brain, which is why I love stuff that makes playing in the outdoors fun and accessible to more people, like the underwater scooters in the picture above, surf and sup foils and electric bikes.
The age old problem that might remain with us a bit longer? Motivation!
Maybe.
